Tahoe Junior Freeride Series - International Freeskier and Snowboarders Association

The Tahoe Junior Freeride Series originated in 2007 as a friendly big mountain competition between Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl ski teams. It has grown into a regional series that boasts over 180 competitors. TJFS is a series of four comps.  Each comp has a three day format with every competitor skiing/riding two runs over three days.  There are no cuts after the first day.  TJFS has four age categories: Girls 11-14, Girls 15-18, Boys 11-14, and Boys 15-18.  In 2013, TJFS added two snowboarding categories, 11-14 and 15-18. Competitors can earn points from TJFS comps toward national IFSA ranking.

" Kirkwood is experiencing the best snow in many years; perhaps the best snow in the country.  The terrain selected for the Freeride venue is especially skiing great due to the recent storms and natural features.  This will be an exciting event coupled with new faces on old terrain.  I'm looking forward to our first and many future events with TJFS athletes and event coordinators."

"The return of Junior Big Mountain competition to Kirkwood is monumental!  Kirkwood has world class terrain that even the adult competitors are envious to compete on.  Coupled with El Nino's onslaught upon Tahoe this year with the Tahoe Junior Freeride Series inaugural stop there; this may very well be the best junior event in North America this season!  The terrain of Kirkwood has helped to develop former world champions Josh Daiek and Craig Garbiel and the next world champion may very well be in attendance!"

-Trevor Tanhoff – Technical Director – Tahoe Jr. Freeride Series
