11TH ANNUAL NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE CYCLING CAMP
JUNE 3-6, 2010

The NDE includes guaranteed entry to the Death Ride for the first 60 to enter in either the NDE or ITA; Professional Coaching by elite coach Robert Panzera and coaching associates; Event Jersey; Altitude-Climbing-EnduranceTM Training Manual authored by Arnie Baker, MD; All Meals; Camp Photo; and SAG Support!

The NDE is the premiere camp to prepare riders for the Death Ride (or any long distance, climbing ride you have planned this summer).  Under the guidance of coach Rob Panzera and his mentors, campers will be provided the knowledge and hands-on training necessary to prepare them for an improved experience at the Death Ride.

Depending on ability and inclination, campers will have a chance to experience all passes in the Tour broken out among the 3-days of the camp—including a chance to climb 10,000 feet over two of the Death Ride passes in one day!

Each day, campers can expect on-the-road coaching, including: cycling safety, bike fit (as necessary), descending skills, climbing skills, nutrition tips, & Death Ride tips. Additionally, the NDE will include optional clinics on using power meters and heart rate monitors, and quick mechanical fixes. In the evening, campers will be treated to comprehensive talks concerning various preparations for the Death Ride.

Come ride with us at Kirkwood Mountain Resort to gain valuable insight and proper training to improve your experience and performance at the Tour of the California Alps!  60 spaces are available.

Camp fee is $549, however a non-refundable $99 deposit is all that is required to hold your space in this years NDE.  The reamining $450 will be charged to your card on April 1, 2010.  For additional information contact the Sales Manager, Bart Peterson at 209.258.7285 or sales@kirkwood.com.

4TH ANNUAL INTO THIN AIR CYCLING CAMP
JUNE 10-13, 2010

This camp is designed as an addition or alternate option to the Near Death Experience. Do to the popularity of the NDE, we’ve added the Into Thin Air (ITA) camp. Having completed the NDE is NOT a requirement for this camp. The ITA includes guaranteed entry to the Death Ride for the first 60 to enter in either the NDE or ITA.

At ITA, you’ll be challenged by similar distances and elevation gains as NDE, but we’ll tackle other roads in the Markleeville area, including Blue Lakes, Old Luther Pass, Kingsbury Grade, Diamond Valley, and Upper Truckee. Come explore and experience new and different  rides and routes, while getting in prime shape for the Tour of the California Alps: Death Ride.

Similar to the NDE, the ITA camp includes Professional Coaching by elite coach Robert Panzera, Event Jersey, High Intensity Training (HIT) Manual or Altitude-Climbing-Endurance Training Manual authored by Arnie Baker, MD, All Meals, Camp Photo, and full SAG support.

Similar to NDE, the ITA will teach you to climb better, build your aerobic engine, and maximize your leg strength. Under the guidance of Rob Panzera, campers will train on different, but similar routes to the Death Ride.

The on-the-road training modules include:

• Hands-on lessons on how to properly climb

• Demonstration and instruction in pacing, breathing, and focus

• Skills training, including advanced descending

• Rides on select scenic routes only known by the locals similar to the Death Ride passes

The evening clinics include:

Bike fit

Using power meters and heart rate monitors

Proper instruction on drills to increase leg strength

Focused sessions on smoothing-out pedal stroke to improve efficiency

Quick mechanical fixes

Tips on keeping your body feeling fresh for long days in the saddle

Sport psychology

At lunch stops, campers will be treated to quick talks, which aid in the understanding of the hands-on learning modules. The evening will include didactic sessions to reinforce hands-on learning.

Come ride with us at Kirkwood Mountain Resort to gain that extra edge to prepare you for an improved performance at the Tour of the California Alps! 60 spaces are available.

Camp fee is $549, however a non-refundable $99 deposit is all that is required to hold your space in this years ITA. The remaining $450 will be charged to your card on April 1, 2010.  For additional information contact the Sales Manager, Bart Peterson at 209.258.7285 or sales@kirkwood.com.
