MARCH 2010
3.3.10 - 3.7.10 North American Freeskiing Championships
Don't miss what has arguably become one of the biggest events of the year to take place at Kirkwood! Entering it's 13th season at our resort, the North American Freeskiing Championships brings some of the nation's best big mountain skiers to take on the permanently closed terrain of The Cirque - which of course is open only twice each year for this event and it's counterpart The North Face Masters. To catch all the action, grab a front row seat in the Devil's Corral, directly below The Cirque - one of the only venues in the world allowing spectators a full top to bottom view of the competition course.
On your way up to the venue, stop by the Village Plaza where several of our sponsors will be allowing folks to demo new equipment, learn more about new lines, and above all else just have a great time. Spectators looking to spend the day at the venue who aren't prepared to ski or snowboard are welcome to hop on board the snowcat. $20 provides all day round trip access on the snowcat, which will pick up near the base of Chair 1 at the bottom of the hour every hour from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and take guests downhill from the venue every hour at the top of the hour from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Look for the BBQ at the venue while you're hanging out - staffers from the Outback Grill will be serving up burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, and more.
Qualifying rounds of the competition will take place on Thursday 3.3 and Friday 3.4 in the terrain of Lookout Vista, with finals in the Cirque on Saturday 3.5 and Sunday 3.6. In case of weather interruptions, Monday 3.8 has been scheduled as a backup weather day.
Pedestrian access to the venue will not be permitted - access via snowcat or chair lift is required.
Schedule note: Qualifying days are scheduled on Lookout Vista for Thursday and Friday 3/4 and 3/5. Finals Day 1 is scheduled for Saturday 3/6, and Finals Day 2 is scheduled for Sunday 3/7. In the event of a weather delay, competition will be extended into Monday 3/8.

APRIL 2010
4.2.10 - 4.4.10 Kirkwood Jammin' XVII
The biggest and longest running Spring Break Party in Tahoe is back! Kirkwood Jammin' XVII is about to get wild... Check out the list of events, then get ready to spend the weekend with us, April 2 - 4. Events will be happening every day near the pond and the Plaza from 11am to 2pm - you can't miss us with our lifeguard tower and giant pond!!!
WALK THE PLANK - Having an argument with your pal during Jammin? Take it to the pond with our daily jousting battle at 11:00am! Grab your choice of weapon - pool floaties galore - and then duke it out. The guy or girl left standing will win some rad Kirkwood swag!
POND SKIMMING - Every day at high noon, we'll be throwin' it down at the pond. Bring your best costume for this fabulous tradition and don't forget a towel - you may get wet!!! Make it across the pond and score some awesome Kirkwood swag.
JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO - All three days of Jammin' at 1:00pm, the average Joes of the crowd will have an opportunity to show off their better-than-average skills in this fun gauntlet-style competition! Start up the hill from the pond at the bottom of the Chair 5 park... Choose from a rail or small kicker to hit, then get yourself to the edge of the pond. Click out of your bindings, then run across the plank over the pond while some of Kirkwood's finest send flying objects your way. If you make it across the plank without getting taken out by a flying dodgeball, you'll win a couple of lift tickets to The Wood!
JAMAICAN BOBSLED CHALLENGE - On Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm, we invite all inspired sled builders to show off their skills at the base of Chair 5! Now's your time to begin... Start collecting materials to build your sled, and then find your best blow up driver to man it! Sorry, no live animals or humans can drive the sled - drivers must be inanimate family-friendly objects. All decorations on the sled must be securely attached via staple or nail (tape won't hold), and sleds must meet inspection before the race. Prizes will be awarded to the most original sled and best crash.
4.11.10 Soup and Shoe
Enjoy a fun, guided snowshoe hike along the crest of the Sierra... Complete with lunch! Guides will provide soup and bread at the rest stop along the way. $35. Rentals available for an additional $5.
