Q: Do I need to pre-book my Adult or Children's lesson?
A: No... Well, maybe. You do not need to pre-book your lessons, but registering online not only will save youtime and money but guarantee your spot in the program of your choice. Adult first timers will receive special benefits by registering online as well!
Q: What time do I need to arrive for my lesson?
A: The Ski and Board School opens at 8:00am on weekends and holidays and 8:30am Monday through Friday. Most of our business is conducted between 9:00am and 10:00am. Arriving early will make the entire process easier for you. Guests who arrive between 8:00am and 9:00am will breeze through the registration and rental process with a few minutes to spare for breakfast.
Q: What times do the lessons start?
A: Morning group lessons meet at 10:15am and start at 10:30am. Afternoon group lessons meet at 1:15pm and start at 1:30pm.
Q: Do group lessons fill up?
A: Both children and adult lessons will fill up during peak days. Registration for morning and full day childrens programs closes at 10:00am. Afternoon lessons registration closes at 1:00pm.
Q: How long does the registration and rental process take?
A: During peak times, the process should take no more than 45 minutes but most guests will make it through from start to finish in about 30 minutes.
Q: Can I rent clothing at the resort?
A: We do not provide clothing rentals at Kirkwood. We do recommend waterproof pants and jackets. Bib style pants are great for younger children as they provide additional warmth.
Q: What other types of clothing or gear should I have?
A: Sunglasses or goggles. Sunglasses are great for a sunny day and goggles are ideal for snowy days. Waterproof gloves or mittens - mittens are great for younger children and protect your hands from the snow.
Q: Do I need a helmet for lessons?
A: Helmets are highly recommended although not required. If you're not wearing a helmet, a warm wool or fleece beanie is recommended. Helmets may be rented in our rental shops.
Q: Can I wear cotton socks in my ski or snowboard boots?
A: Cotton products are never a good call in a winter environment as they hold moisture directly on the skin. We recommend tall wool or synthetic blend socks that come up over the calf. It is not necessary to wear multiple layers of socks or even really thick ones - this will actually make your feet colder.
Q: Do I need to mark my child(ren)'s items so they don't get lost?
A: Yes! It is a great idea to label your children's clothing and other items for easy identification. It is also a good idea to have a small bag or backpack to help us keep everything together.
Q: What happens if I forget something at home?
A: Don't worry. The Timber Creek base area has a retail shop that sells everything you'll need for a day in the mountains.
