2016-2017 Kirkwood JETS Program
Kirkwood JETS continues to be recognized as one of the top ski and snowboard team programs in California. During the 2016-17 winter season, we had the most Kirkwood team athletes ever participating in National competitions, and every child demonstrated dramatic improvement in their skiing and riding throughout the season.
Athletes can achieve their full potential on the mountain as a result of a season long program in a team environment. Skiing/riding week after week, parents will see their athletes achieve new goals on the mountain and before you know it, kids are surpassing parents with their abilities.
JETS athlete spots SELL OUT every year and new athletes are subject to a successful tryout to qualify for a team and proper placement.
Season passes are sold separately and are not included in the program. Families have the flexibility to determine which season pass product is right for them, depending on what options they may require. There are many pass options available, please make sure to do the research and find the pass product that is right for you and your child, and keep in mind black-out dates do apply regardless of Jets affiliation.
There are two (2) JETS Social Events scheduled for 2016/17. The first will be a Kick-Off BBQ on Sunday, December 10 @12.30pm at Expedition: Kirkwood. The second event is a Pot Luck social that will also be held at Expedition: Kirkwood on Saturday, March 11 from 4.30pm -6.00pm. Mark your calendars now!
The in-house JETS Games for 2016/17 will consist of three events. There will be a Rail Jam, Banked Slalom and Big Mountain. These events are a great way for our JETS athletes to get their feet wet in a relaxed competitive format and they really showcase how far each athlete can progress in a season. All events are TBD and weather/conditions dependent. Athlete participation is at the discretion of the coaches for each event.
Scholarships are available for the 2016/17 JETS Competition Freeride Team. Submit a written document with your registration answering the following questions. 1. Why should you receive a scholarship? 2. How will this scholarship benefit you? 3. What your child can do to be an ideal role model who represents Kirkwood Mountain Resort and the JETS Program.
Returning Families: Registration begins for returning families TBA. There are no guarantees your child will end up in the same group as the previous year or with the same coach. Groups will be built primarily on skill levels. If you have children (friends) who want to ski together we will defer to the lower level group.
