June

6/5-6/8 Near Death Experience Cycling Camp
Join Kirkwood for our 9th annual Near Death Experience Camp focusing on preparation for the 2008 Tour of the California Alps (Markleeville Death Ride). Camp includes guaranteed entry to the Death Ride, professional coaching, event jersey, Altitude Climbing Endurance Training Manual, all meals, camp photos, SAG support and more. 6/28 1 Day Fly Fishing Clinics
Clinics will be held from 9am to 4pm for novice to intermediate anglers. Learn skills and techniques on casting, knots, reading the water, stream etiquette and more. Includes all necessary equipment. All participants must have a valid CA Fishing license and supply their own lunch. Fishing licenses, food and supplies are available at the
Kirkwood General Store. $125 per person

July

7/4 Opening Day of Summer Mountain Operations
Chairs 1 and 2 will begin weekend operations from July 4th to September 7th. Chair 6 (scenic rides and hiking only; no bikes) is scheduled to operate July 6, Aug 2 & Aug 30. Resort Activities include mountain biking (cross country, downhill, bike park), hiking, scenic chairlift rides, climbing wall, ropes course, zip line, disc golf, horseback riding and much, much more. 7/4 Kids Bike Parade & Ice Cream Social
Parade from 1pm – 2pm. Kids bring their bikes to the playground to decorate with
streamers, balloons, sparkles and more then ride the obstacle course to the General Store for an ice cream cone - mom and dad’s treat!

7/5 Volunteer Fire Department’s BBQ & Kids Carnival
Join us in the Village Plaza for great food, beer & wine tasting. Kid’s activities include bounce house, magic tricks, balloon sculptures and face painting. Adult entry fee includes commemorative wine or beer glass. Sorry no pets. For more details contact 209.258.7386.

7/5 Mountain Bike Clinic
Join our knowledgeable guides to improve your riding skills. We’ll cover various techniques that will allow you to ride all types of terrain confidently. This is a great way to prepare for our Mountain Bike Race Series. Clinics will be held 9am to 1pm and includes lift ticket. $50 per person.

7/6 Kirkwood Environmental Day
Join us for our annual mountain clean up and Environmental Day. We encourage
everybody to participate in the mountain clean up starting at 10am at the General
Store where volunteers receive trash bags and gloves. After the two hour mountain
clean up, volunteers are treated to a free BBQ with refreshments, music and more.
Kirkwood and its sponsors will present the second annual Environmental Expo on the

7/6 Climbing Clinic
During this introductory clinic we will cover the basics in equipment, knot tying, top roping, & climbing techniques before heading to the rock. From here we’ll continue top roping basics and rappelling. Clinics will be held from 12:00-4:00. $50 per person.

7/12 Tour of the California Alps - Death Ride
This annual 120 mile road cycling race pushes participants to their limits as they gain and climb elevations of over 1500 feet on this tour of the Sierra mountain passes. Volunteers are need for the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department's sponsored rest stop atop Carson Pass. Email info@deathride.com for details.

7/19 Kirkwood JAM Day Camps
Join us on these four Saturdays from 10am-2pm for these themed day camps which will include a hike, outside activity, craft project and games at the pool! Bring your lunch and swimsuit then leave the rest up to us! Advance reservations are a must and each camp requires a minimum of six kids.

Kirkwood Summer HQ is proud to host a cross country mountain bike series and a downhill mountain bike series this summer.  In addition to friendly competition, participants will enjoy BBQs, refreshments, music, prizes and awards.  Each event series will have its own point system to determine overall grand prize winners.
$35 per event or $60 for both.

7/26 & 7/27 Kids JAM Overnight Camp Overnight:This fun-filled camp is for kids ages 7 – 12 and involves camping out at the bottom of Chair 4 in the footprint
of the historic Mormon Emigrant Trail. Camp runs from noon Saturday to noon Sunday where kids enjoy a good old fashioned campfire evening, complete with supper, s’mores and stories before retiring for some shut eye under the stars. The following day includes a hike, games, swimming at the pool and practicing skills learned the day before. The camp tends to fill up quickly so early registration is a must

7/27 Women Only Mountain Bike Clinic
Join our knowledgeable guides to improve your riding skills. We’ll cover various techniques that will allow you to ride all types of terrain confidently. This is a great way to prepare for our Mountain Bike Race Series. Clinics will be held 9am to 1pm and includes lift ticket. $50 per person.

8/2 Kirkwood Wildflower Festival
Wildflower Festival – Kirkwood partners with The Amador Vintners to benefit
the Sugar Pine Foundation by hosting live music, wine tasting & local artisans,
12-5pm on Village Plaza. All are welcome to enjoy music and shop the art booths
for free. Wine tasting tickets are $20 and include commemorative glass and many tastes of award winning wines of Amador County. Our savory BBQ will be available all day for additional cost. New artists welcome, book your booth with abroadhurst@kirkwood.com or call 209.258.7386.

8/2 & 8/3 2 Day Fly Fishing Clinics
Day 1 – held from 9am to 3pm Saturday learning skills and techniques on casting, knots, reading the water, stream etiquette, and more. Day 2 – held from 9am to 2pm Sunday learning dry fly and sub surface fishing techniques, dead free drifting, pproach, as well as catch and release. Clinic includes all necessary equipment. All participants
must have a valid CA Fishing license and supply their own lunch. $225 per person.

8/16 Kirkwood JAM Day Camps

8/23 Climbing for Intermediates
This clinic begins with a few climbing routes using a top rope before discovering the exciting world of lead climbing. After you feel confident lead climbing on the wall, we’ll head to the real rock for more lead climbing and rappelling. Clinics will be held Noon to 4pm. $50 per person. 8/30 Thin Air Chili Cook Off
“Thin Air Chili Cook-Off,” starts at noon with live music, beer & wine tasting. Chili
tasting begins at 1pm with ballots due by 3pm and prizes awarded at 4pm. First Prize

9am to noon. Bring out your old gear to sell or buy some new gear for your quiver.

8/31 Kirkwood Mountain Realty Open House/Home Tour
Home Tour from 2-5pm at the entrance of East Meadows. Reception with entertainment from 3-6pm, $15 suggested donation benefiting the Alpine Watershed Group. Take this special opportunity to view some of our most exclusive, most prestigious custom mountain homes.
