Want to break through to the next level?
Looking for another edge in your preparation for the 2009 Tour of the California Alps (Markleeville Death Ride) and other long distance, climbing ride?
The NDE: Thin Air Camp is for you! Yet another camp hosted by Kirkwood Mountain Resort to better prepare you for the 2009 Tour of the California Alps (Markleeville Death Ride) and beyond!
Even though this camp is titled “advanced,” it is not only for the experienced rider. This camp is designed to build upon the knowledge acquired in the NDE. Please note: having completed the NDE is not a requirement for this camp.
Camp includes Professional Coaching by elite coach Robert Panzera, Event Jersey, High Intensity Training (HIT)TM manual authored by Arnie Baker, MD, All Meals, Camp Photo, SAG support and more. SAG support means campers will be treated to lunch, snacks, and water on the road along with mechanical assistance, as it may arise.
The NDE: Thin Air Camp will take your riding to a new level, through hands-on tutorials teaching you to climbing better, build your aerobic engine, and maximize your leg strength. Under the guidance of Rob Panzera and his associates, campers will train both on the road and on stationary trainers each day. Please note: please bring your own stationary trainer to which you attach your bike.
The stationary trainer modules include:
- Comprehensive bike fit
- Hands-on lessons on how to properly climb
- Proper instruction on drills to increase leg strength
- Focused sessions on smoothing-out pedal stroke to improve efficiency
- Various forms of intervals to improve your aerobic capacity
- Tips on keeping your body feeling fresh for long days in the saddle
The on-the-road modules include:
- Options to ride all of the Death Ride passes
- Rides on select scenic routes only known by the locals
- Demonstration and instruction in pacing, breathing, and focus
- Skills training, including advanced descending
In addition, during breakfast and at lunch stops, campers will be treated to quick talks, which aid in the understanding of the hands-on learning modules.
Come ride with us at Kirkwood Mountain Resort to gain that extra edge to prepare you for an excellent experience at the Tour of the California Alps!
