Adult Snowboarding Programs
At Kirkwood, we take learning to snowboard seriously, and are proud to offer one of the best programs in the Sierras. Your instructor will guide you through the basic fundamentals of snowboarding. Kirkwood Board School with the help of Burton Snowboards provides an easy and safe learning environment for you to pick up the necessary skills required to snowboard. Burton LTR Equipment has dramatically reduced the time and effort needed to learn. The boards special design helps speed up the learning curve, while dramatically reducing the dreaded "catching of the edges". Can you say Starfish? With more performance in the boots, bindings and boards, skating around the flats, getting on and off the lift and using your edges to turn has never been easier. Packages include equipment rental, two hour lesson and a limited lift ticket (valid on Chair 9 Only).

Women Only Burton Learn to Ride Packages Forget about learning from your husband or boyfriend. Let Kirkwood's certified instructors give you the proper tools and techniques to succeed. Session includes learning how to use your equipment, getting on and off the lift without falling, executing different turn shapes, controlling speed and stopping where and when you want. All Women's LTR Packages come with Women Specific equipment designed especially for women which increases the comfort level and speeds up the learning curve. Packages include equipment rental, two hour lesson and a limited lift ticket (valid on Chair 9 Only).
Level 2-6 Boarding Lesson Packages For those who already know how to ride, this is the package for you. Our Level 2-4 Lessons are for comfortable beginners (Green Circles) looking to link turns consistently, explore new terrain and progress to our intermediate chair. Our Level 5-6 Lessons are for intermediate (Blue Squares) riders who are comfortable in the fall line and want to get more dynamic and move onto the next level. Our Level 5-6 Lesson Packages explore the gullies and trees off chair 7 while introducing the pipe and park as well as riding switch and working on carving. Packages include equipment rental, two hour* lesson and a full mountain lift ticket. *Group lessons are 2 hours long with 3 or more guests. Group lessons with 1 or 2 guests are considered a semi-private lesson and will be 1 hour in duration
Group Lessons Group lessons are the most affordable way to improve skills and are designed to push and motivate the group in order to expand their riding options. Groups are divided by ability to ensure participants get the most out of their lesson; group sizes are kept small to maximize individual attention in a group setting. Lessons are two hours* long (equipment rental and lift ticket not included). *Group lessons are 2 hours long with 3 or more guests. Group lessons with 1 or 2 guests are considered a semi-private lesson and will be 1 hour in duration
Progression Sessions for Snowboarders Two hour sessions designed to help you progress your riding, period! Progression Sessions are designed around you. Want better park skills? Want to take your carve to the next level? Is there terrain you haven't mastered? Take one Progression Session and you will see results immediately. Our instructors also give tips on all the right gear for you. Kirkwood instructors are the best in the business. Our mountain demands it! Sessions vary from week to week. Sessions are based on the mountain conditions and are focused on freestyle riding both in the park and on the mountain. We do it all including: carving, switchriding, powder, trees, gullies, steeps, chutes and more. Check the Snow Report to see what the focus is for the Session of the Week. Pak (3 sessions) for $115 Park 'n' Pipe Clinics Want to safely learn the coolest tricks and jib techniques? Join our top notch coaches as they give you the skills and the 411 to becoming a more complete freestyle skier or rider. With a more progressive terrain park system than ever, Kirkwood is quickly becoming a training ground for up and coming skiers. Our coaches give you the lowdown on the safe and appropriate way to clear the tabletop, slide rails with style, or pull that new trick you have seen in the park and all the newest videos. Cost: $30 per person Park 'n' Pipe Private Special This two hour park private is designed for those who specifically want to work on their freestyle skills. Having your own coach to focus your needs or the needs of your small group is the easiest way to get comfortable and understand the safety, control and use of features located in the park. All of our park and pipe coaches are freestyle certified with the PSIA and AASI and therefore need to be prescheduled as there are a limited number of qualified instructors. Cost: $110 for individual; $180 for private group
