Families Find Conveniences For Skiing And Riding Together At Kirkwood

Resort Programs Designed for the Needs of Today´s Adventure Family

(Kirkwood, Calif.) – The nationally ranked Timber Creek area at Kirkwood Mountain Resort http://www.kirkwood.com has added convenient new facilities and amenities designed for families with active lifestyles. Timber Creek has become Kirkwood’s one-stop-shopping for families who want to get on the snow quickly.

The area has received national status with USA Today rating it as one of the nation’s top beginner areas because of its terrain and gradual fall line. SKI Magazine has devoted the October 2007 magazine cover to Kirkwood and readers ranked the resort No. 8 for snow quality among all North American resorts.

Kirkwood’s new Timber Creek facility has more than 10,000 sq. ft. of space housing Kirkwood’s Ski and Ride School, the Burton Learn to Ride Center and the Rossignol Learn to Ski Center, Kirkwood’s largest rental center with a ticket office providing guests a “one-stop” shop. The area is also home to Snowshoe Thompson’s eatery and Kirkwood Mountain Sports retail outlet.

The Timber Creek area will also feature family races along with women-specific learning clinics and programs for children. The Children’s Ski & Board School has revitalized several programs for young skiers and riders to offer both a hip atmosphere and an opportunity to explore the many facets of Kirkwood.

Using the $3.5 million high-speed quad – Timber Creek Express, those learning to ski or ride can access ideal beginner terrain offering fall line runs that create natural progression for learning. The area is secluded providing a special place for young families and beginner level skiers/riders to learn new skills comfortably and safely. The Timber Creek Express reaches Adventure Land’s rollers and ski-through tunnels, as well as a terrain park called The Playground with beginner- and medium-sized terrain park features.

With an expanding terrain park, both Expedition: Kirkwood and the Ski & Board School will offer group and private lessons for terrain park skiing and riding. Certified instructors with guidelines set forth through PSIA and AASI will lead these introductory or refresher lessons on terrain park etiquette, Smart Style and safety.
