At Kirkwood, our unique terrain offers lift access to backcountry opportunities within our resort boundaries providing the perfect backdrop for our range of specialty clinics, private guides and backcountry awareness offerings. Beyond Kirkwood’s boundaries, you’ll find infamous terrain that has been featured in many ski and snowboard flicks. Backcountry, inbound or out of bounds, Kirkwood's terrain is in a class of its own!

EK Private Expeditions

Private Expeditions

At Kirkwood, the best spots may not always be marked on the map. Get the inside scoop, plus professional coaching, tricks and tips from the people that ride Kirkwood 100+ days. Ski or ride the best of Kirkwood on any given day and never wait in a lift line. Private Guides are available in three or six hour increments, for individuals, or groups up to five people of the same discipline and similar ability.

That’s why we’ve created signature programs that combine the unique terrain Kirkwood has to offer with the top coaches to give you a one of a kind experience.   Whether you want to hone your skills on the steeps, navigate Kirkwood’s signature chutes of Kirkwood, or ski/ride with the ladies, we have a program for you.

Kirkwood is a Class A avalanche area, making it the perfect classroom for our avalanche & backcountry education programs. Expedition: Kirkwood has become one of the West Coast’s largest avalanche education providers, teaching the most current versions of the nationally recognized curriculum from the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Our AIARE trained instructors have over 25 years teaching experience and our avalanche programs, using AIARE teaching methods, are completely student centered.

Our kid’s programs continue to be recognized as one of the top ski and snowboard programs in California.
