Training Schedule/Start Dates:

November training dates and locations to be determined
December 1st - April 7th 9:00am - 3:00pm Saturday’s, Sunday’s and holidays (12/26-12/28, 1/21 & 12/19 - 12/21).
Christmas Break Add on ($200 add on to the program) 12/19 – 12/22 and or 1 /2 – 1/5


Athletes are required to maintain 80% attendance throughout the season. We reserve the right to move An athlete should their lack of attendance inhibit their ability to keep up with their team. New members to the Big Mountain Competition team may be required to pass an on snow ability test at the beginning of the season in order to participate.


Coaches train and travel to ALL local and regional events with the team. This team will receive a schedule Of events at the start of the season and athletes will work with the head coach about setting a competition schedule. A travel fee will be applied to cover coaching for any athlete travelling to an out of state IFSA event. The maximum is $300, however families will only be charged the actual cost should it be less.

We use TeamSnap as means of scheduling and coordinating information to the team. Login information will be sent upon registering for the program.

Get Ready

Registration Information

  • Program space is limited.
  • Participants who do not pre-register need to arrive early to ensure placement in the program.
  • All participants should be checked in or in line at the Kirkwood Ski & Ride School desk by 9:30am at the latest, including those who are pre-registered, in order to make the lesson on time. 
  • Program participants are required to come equipped with appropriate attire and accessories such as water resistant pants, jacket and gloves. Glasses for sunny days and goggles/hat for snowy days.

Registration Times

  • 8:30 am to 10:00 am Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 am to 10:00 am Weekends and holidays
  • Registration for the morning lesson closes promptly at 10:00 am
  • Registration for the afternoon lesson closes promptly at 1:00 pm

Prepping for your lesson

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Don’t forget the sunscreen
  • Drink plenty of water to make sure you are hydrated 
  • Bring warm clothes including hats, gloves, a jacket, waterproof winter pants and goggles

Lesson Cancellation Policy

All reservations must be canceled or changed 24 hours before the scheduled lesson date. If the reservation is not canceled within this time frame a $100 processing fee will be imposed on all Private lessons and a $75 processing fee will be imposed on all group lessons. All No Call No Shows will be charged the full price of the lesson. To cancel or change a lesson reservation, please contact Kirkwood Ski & Ride School at 209.258.7754. Our reservation center is open 7-days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; if you call after hours, you will have the option to leave a message for cancellations only. No reservations will be accepted on voicemail.

*Gratuities for coaches are not a requirement but an appropriate and appreciated gesture. A 15-20% gratuity based on the cost of the lesson will make your coach feel very appreciated and valued.


Lift tickets are not included in the base price of lessons. Everyone accessing the mountain must have a lift ticket. For many of our lessons we offer a discounted lift ticket as an add-on product.

Adult and Child group lessons meet at the base of chair 9 at Timber Creek.                                                                                                       

Adult and Child private lessons meet at the private lesson sign between chair lift 9 and 7 at Timber Creek.
For the age 5-12 programs and Kirkwood's adult age programs(13 and up), guest meet their instructor at 10:15am. They leave the base area at 10:30 am. Child class will stop for lunch and take bathroom and drink breaks when needed. Otherwise they will ski/snowboard until 3:45pm. Adults will leave the base area and ski/snowboard until 1:00pm
For 3-year-old beginner programs, the children need to be checked in by 10:15am in our Mini Ripper/Mini Grom room. They will do an indoor ski lesson and then go outside on the hill for an hour in the morning. They will come in around noon for lunch. After lunch the children will go back outside to ski for another hour. They then come inside for quiet rest time until parent pick up at 3:30pm.
