Separated from the advanced terrain, our unique Timber Creek area offers a designated area with beginner-friendly slopes and a welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for beginners to enjoy the thrill of skiing without feeling overwhelmed.

Start out on School Run, Squirrel Ridge, and Funny Bunny to warm up and head to the Gold Rush Adventure Zone and Graduation for more green level fun! Once you are ready to transition to intermediate trails, take TC Express located at the base of Timber Creek to level up with more challenging blue runs like Ditch of Doom and Trench of Terror! Don’t be afraid of the names, these blues are favorites amount beginner skiers and riders ready to take the next step!

Drop the kids at ski and ride school or book a group lesson for the whole family. Our lessons are geared toward families, beginners, and experienced skiers seeking to refine their techniques. From group classes to private lessons, we’ve got options to suit each family member’s style.

For little shredders through teens, check out Kirkwood Ski and Ride School located at Timber Creek. Watch your child's confidence soar as they learn new techniques from our world-class instructors, trained specifically to work with kids, tweens, and teens in a fun and safe environment. With lessons grouped by age and ability level, we have the perfect fit for every kid.

Parents can relax knowing their little ones are well cared for and having fun. Located just down the road from the main village, parents can drop the kids at Timber Lodge for a day of ski school while they explore the mountain their way. At the end of the day, take “Home Run” to meet up on the mountain and test new skills together.

Explore beginner-friendly terrain where greener skiers and boarders can build confidence. For our blue crews, take Caples Crest chair over to the backside for a stacked lineup of intermediate terrain off Iron Horse and Sunrise chair lifts.  

For the adventurous, our advanced and expert trails offer deep, steep, and exhilarating experiences with breathtaking views and thrilling descents. Start by taking Cornice Express to access some of our most sought-after blacks and local favorites. From there, head up The Wall chair lift to shred our legendary double blacks and test your skills dropping off “The Wall” if you dare.  

Kirkwood’s easy-to-navigate mountain enhances the family adventure by taking convivence to the next level. Clearly marked trails and a simple village layout mean families can spend max time tackling the terrain and less time figuring out where to go. For on mountain eats, ski or ride over to Sunrise Grill on the backside located at the Base of Sunrise lift. This hidden gem offers casual eats like hotdogs, hamburgers, cold beers, and hot chocolate. This outdoor spot is perfect for families wanting to maximize their time hitting the slopes.

Looking for an afternoon break? Head to the base and warm up at Monte Wolfe's with quick bites such as hearty sandwiches, tasty snacks, and more ensuring no one goes hungry.

After last chair, head to The Cornice for delicious pizzas and craft the perfect pie to share after a day on the slopes. The inviting atmosphere makes it a great place to relax and unwind over a warm meal and a cold beer. Cornice also offers takeout for those looking for a cozy meal in!
